Can we just say I'm up to my ears in half finished pelts, three bags of stuffing, 14 packages of safety eyes, and a bag of chocolate cinnamon m-n-ms, frantically trying to pull my shit together before Crafts Gone Wild next Saturday?

And yes, I did say chocolate cinnamon. I got them at Target today and they're fairly amazing.

We're watching the Lions lose and it's more than likely my cat's fault. Any time he's over here visiting from my parents, they totally tank. Therefore Lions fans, I apologize.

Just a little sneak preview of a verrrry awesome OSU themed monster set I'm working on. Never fear, still a U of M girl hardcore..I'm just no dummy when it comes to doing a show in the middle of Columbus, you know??

I should really do a post about all the absolutely ridiculous brain melting TV we watch. Lets just say this-Toddlers and Tiaras. Probably 8 episodes in the last three days. Little Miss, Tiny Miss, Glitzy Tiny Miss. Can't get enough.

I haven't been totally sucking the last few days. I did pull out the more Halloween-y theme toys out of the glass cabinet and make a cute little vignette on top of the TV!

So cutey. I have so many toys cluttered up in the cabinet I like to be able to get different ones out every now and again to highlight.

Officially accepted to Crafts Gone Wild! Yaaaaay!

Ordered yarn to, going against everything I believe in, knit OSU monsters. Got it today. Much thicker than I expected. BOO. Thumbs down boo. Clearly a sign that OSU monsters are a bad idea, obvs.

The house is freezing. Still not turning on the heat.

As usual, feel behind on knitting for the show.

I made a new blog header! It still looks like I don't know what I'm doing!

We made the most yummy potato pancakes out of all things, instant mashed flakes. They were deeeelish.

Do not buy the Almond Joy creamer that there are a million commercials for that looks amazing. It is expensive and a giant letdown.

Any couponers out there? Ryan and I are so gung ho about this after watching Extreme Couponers on TLC, but he's been looking and all the coupons out there suck!! Obviously its possible if these women are doing it, we even saw a vegan couponer last night...but how are they gettting good stuff and Ryan is finding coupons for a dollar off four tubs of Crisco?!

Just in case some poor confused soul out there ever started to think I was cool...I feel the need to disclose...
Here's what Ryan and I did last month.

We went to WWE Smackdown!!!! Third row ringside. It was spectacular and worth every penny.

And yes, we made signs. Oh, did we make signs.

We were on TV like crazy. This sign looks really grainy in the photo, but it's my best friend's baby's name. Thea love!!!

Yep, I'm 34 and went to wrestling. And held out and Stub-Hubbed so we could get killer tickets. No shame!

So Target can piss off, and take their totally over hyped Missoni collection and shove it. Here's what I've been working on in my non-monster knitting time. Inspired by the Missoni throw pattern on Ravelry, I'm knitting only one repeat of it to make a scarf. We'll see how it turns out. I'm using Caron Simply Soft for the first try....if I love it I'm going to modify the pattern to get a few more zigs and zags, and use a nicer yarn.

The colors: (this took forevvvvvvver to pick since I was trying to match the original pattern as closely as possible)

Here's how far I am. I was really cruising on it, but then I entered a craft show in Columbus, so it's put to the side for the time being!

I can not wait until I can do all the artwork I WANT to do again. I have again knitted myself into a corner, and have a July holiday weekend commitment that I must knit knit knit for. I reeeeeally want to paint though. I have an embarassingly large stack of canvases in the hall closet. You know, as opposed to my other embarassingly large piles of art supplies. It goes a little like this. Buy it, come home, deposit in art room. See again at art store-"did I buy this? I should probably buy it in case I didn't so that way I have it." or-"Oh, this is on sale. I should probably buy it because it is such a good price and I will surely use it!" Come home, deposit in art room. Do you see where this is headed? Yes, a future episode of Hoarders.

The worst part of it is I have literally about 50 finished pieces that can be sold...I just really detest writing Etsy listings. :o

Another baby finds a home!! This went to a darling little girl who contacted me after Artomatic was over for a bday present for her boyfriend. She picked it up today and had the cutest hairstyle and adorable outfit!! I was at my parents so of course Lucy had to march her furry little butt in and be sociable. I was happy to see him go to a good home, my mom was bummed because it was her favorite and she thought she was going to steal it! Funny thing is, this yarn was such a fluke. It was HIDEOUS in the skein, but I had a feeling it might turn out alright once knitted up. It's referred to in the house as "clown puke yarn." It really has a lot going on.

I'm on a yarn diet, aside from two balls I have to buy for a project for my best friend. I was tidying up a bit today and filled up an entire big Rubbermaid with all the yarn that wouldn't fit in my actual yarn organizer. I'm not even going to count how many balls I have because that just sounds scary.

Oh, did I mention I was hand dying yarn today...and after I de-smurfed myself from the blue dye leaking out of the jar....later I was trying to rearrange the very complicated system I had going on, and spilled an ENTIRE bowl of purple dye all over the kitchen floor?!?!?! I'm not even going to get into how it happened, but it actually could have been way worse than it was. Nothing got stained, my ETID hoodie went unscathed, and there was the teeniest bit of dye left in the bowl that I can still finish the yarn...which I think might turn out ugly anyways. Still, not the way I wanted to spend a day off, mopping up purple dye water.

Artomatic is all done for the year! Its always a little bittersweet, you feel like you're leaving summer camp or something because you meet all these new people and then (at least in my socially awkward case) you have no idea when you'll see them again! I did AMAZING though, so much better than I ever could have anticipated. I adopted out 31 monsters!!! I definitely would not have done as well had I not had Ryan and my mumma to help me build/watch the booth.
You think I'd be all knitted out, at least for awhile, but I've already cast on a new project for a Ravelry swap and I have one more little thing to make for my best friend before I can take a break...but I really can't ever take a break because then it's time to work on stuff for S Type Creative and Red White and Kaboom!

Oh well. There are far worst things in life than nonstop artsing and crafting :)

This was us last night, gearing up to watch Wrestlemania.

Not pictured: GIANT bowl of buffalo chicken dip, two different kinds of chips to dip in it, and the Christmas stocking directly above us that is still hanging up for some reason.

I won't bore you all with talk about Wrestlemania, except to say that the ending sucked. And yes, we are fully aware its not real. We refer to it as our "stories."

I will however, say that Artomatic was a huge success!!! I sold waaaay more monsters than I had anticipated, which puts me in a knitting frenzy this week, but I can't complain. Davy Rothbart from Found magazine spoke and was even better than the first time I saw him.

If you couldn't make it to Artomatic, you still have the 9th and the 16th to check it out!

I have the best boyfriend in the world. He's put up with the past week of me freaking out, second guessing everything I'm doing for Artomatic, and basically being a tiny tyrant-aka "MORE TO THE LEFT!!!!!" Without him, my display would have been a halfassed table and not the awesome tree we built. I'm so excited for next Saturday now! He's been my biggest cheerleader and put up with 3 months of "No we can't go out, I have to knit." So excited for our year and a half anniversary next month-we have a big date of Olive Garden and going to see Arthur planned.

Today was the best day ever. Woke up, laid on the futon together and watched Napoleon Dynamite, (even thought everyone knows Gentlemen Broncos is FAR superior. Then again, people obviously DON'T know, since that movie went nowhere.) Got up and showered, got our stuff together, and finished the installation with zero mishaps. To celebrate our accident and divorce free weekend, we ordered a ridiculously huge amount of White Castle (I didn't even know it was possible to spend $18 there,) came home and watched The True Story of Wrestlemania which I have been dyyyyyyyying to get. So far only the first of three discs is on Netflix, but it was SO GOOD. I know I'm probably totally losing people here with my utter nerdiness, but sorry. I love WWE wrestling. Ryan and I call it our stories :P After that was done we started watching another documentary about the 50 greatest WWE stars of all time.

I should really do a post about Netflix recommendations. I watch some pretty oddball stuff.

So after the first part of the day went well enough, we actually had to build the display. I go to get the now infamous sketch out of my bag....and dig...and realize it must be wrapped up in the paint filled tarp we left downtown. You know, just the one piece of paper that has all the measurements we need on it. Excellent. We go over to my parents so I can take my dad's truck. The trailer is still attached to the truck, so Ryan and my mother assure me that the back of the Hummer is big enough to bring home the wood. I am skeptical-just putting that one on the record. So we go to Menards....wood comes in 4' or 8' Four is too small, the Hummer probably tops out at six feet wide. Menards only cuts 2x4s, not actual wood. Do we see an issue here? Ryan suggests tying it down to the top of the car. I suggest me having a resulting anxiety attack. We go home and un-trailer the truck (aka Ryan takes the trailer off, I stand there and hold a wheel) all while in cold yucky rain. Go back to Menards, get the wood, get in line...and realize we forgot the Astroturf. Finally get out of Menards. I freak out the entire way home because its a short bed truck and two feet of wood are hanging out the back and "wiggling" and I'm convinced its going to blow away/snap in half. Once we pull in the driveway I realize Ryan was right and we should have left the tailgate down. Oops.
We cut, and cut, and cut, and cut. No one loses a finger. Considering a hand jigsaw was involved, I consider this a big win. Not #winning. Why not? Because I'm over people thinking severe mental illness/psychotic breaks are funny and publicity worth.
In the midst of this, I devise an all new project. Poor Ryan.
I use lots of spraypaint. Despite the bandanna over my face I'm still blowing out green snot two days later. Healthy!
You would think this all sounds like its going well enough, at least post-wood buying. Except for when I look at the display and say to Ryan, "There's no way this is going to stand on its own." He says, "I've. been. trying. to. tell. you. that. all. day." Me: "Well. You know that sometimes you just need to be firm with me!" We think we have it figured out...we think.

So the current result is....I'm still way behind. I still need to make the shelves and we have to figure out how they're getting attached/how this whole thing is getting stuck to the wall. I still need to cut things out of styrofoam and paint things. All those monsters in the above photo still need mouths. I have a whole herd of monsters that still need stuck together/random limbs knitted. All by April 2. Aaagh!

So this is how Artomatic 419 prep Day 1 went.

Load car-ladder, paint, roll of paper, tarp, screwdriver, chalk, paintbrushes, etc. We are ready to GO!

Get to space, drag very heavy things up three very long flights of steps. Realize we can not possibly listen to any more "sexy sax man" jazz coming from the other side of the building and load up Pandora on my blackberry. Commence listening to "Pussy Money Weed." Upgrade? Not really. Ryan at some point takes over the station and turns on High on Fire. Luckily we had no one else working on our side of the floor, I doubt they would have been pleased with either selection.

Manage to tape off the space without divorce resulting. Get geared up to paint....only to realize MY MOTHER (ahem) had not tamped the can lids down firmly and one of the gallons had dumped over in the plastic tub. Not a lot, but still enough to get all over the plastic bags and box of chalk, etc. Throw on one coat of paint, mercifully it covers! (We were prepared to paint...and paint...and paint...to cover that sacred heart. Have you ever tried to repaint a red room? Yeah, now you see why I was so nervous. We probably could have even got away with just one coat.)

Drama. Oh the painting drama. I wish I could have recorded all the horrification that ensued over us painting over that mural you see above. Mind you, the painting is totally 'legal.' You're allowed to paint over whatever was in the space. I had this exact coversation.

Older couple sees us taping off the wall: You're going to paint over that?!
Me: Mmhmm.
OC: Really?!?!?!?!? *dissapointed faces*
Me: Yep. In about 5 minutes actually.
OC: There's no way you can work with it?????
Me: No. No.

Seriously. What about a sacred heart, cherries, and dice says "Yay!!! Cartoony land of monsters!!!!!"? That's right, nothing. Gleeful painting followed.

Take a break to let the first coat dry, try to walk to Jed's, Jed's is closed, we go to Frickers. I go to the bathroom to wash the paint off my hands...and get stared down by every table. Perhaps it was my Tupac-style bandanna I was wearing to keep the paint out of my hair and my Bayside CULT hoodie? I don't know.

Go back to the space, paint, realize we need to leave the tarp there to dry because there is paint everrrrrrrywhere. Have the weirdest most awkward encounter with our space neighbor that we're still talking about ("How do you think BILL is going to feel about this?", manage to carry a ladder down three flights of stairs without injury, pack up the car, and leave.

Throughout this whole day, every day Ryan asks a question, I inform him to "refer to the sketch!" which is a a folded up piece of notebook paper I've been carrying around that I drew up in 30 seconds to try to explain what the hell I mean when everyone asks me "You're knitting monsters? I don't understand." My lovely carpenter/painter threatens to walk out if I bring up the sketch one more time.

We get home, unpack everything. So far so good, right?

So my $1200 camera got stolen last week, and no I don't want to talk about it. Except to say that the police report has been filed, we know who did it, and I hope he gets caught on a warrant and rots in jail. Asshole.

Today will be spent making up all the monsters who poor empty pelts are in a pile. Expect a photo post for every single one, because I'm an asshole like that. Also expect them to be terrible Blackberry pics, because oh right. My camera got stolen. And I can't afford a new hard drive still, so I can't hook up my point and shoot.

Someone bring me lunch, the monster sweatshop is open.

I apologize for my lack of blathering. My hard drive has decided to evaporate itself and therefore, all blogging has to be done from la magical blackberry until I get to Best Buy to get a new one.
Therefore, please enjoy this photo from last week. This is how happy I look when my boyfriend is making his delicious homemade chicken fettucine alfredo, and I get to sit and knit. My contribution to the meal was rosemary rolls using Pioneer Woman's recipe. I HIGHLY recommend it. Bread with tons of butter, fresh rosemary, and sea salt baked in a cast iron skillet? How can you go wrong!
It was the perfect finish to a perfect day spent at the cat show. And I will diiiiiiie if I don't get a brush coat Peterbald kitten.

Seriously, if anyone saw my Netflix queue, I would probably be institutionalized. Or at least have my mental state questioned. Here's the genres that I watch:

Prison shows. A lot lot LOT of prison shows. Lockup, Lockdown, do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around. I have no idea when I became so obsessed with prison shows. I also have ones queued up about Gitmo, being in solitary, etc etc. Along with watching entirely too much Law and Order and now feeling that I can catch any perp, I am clearly now supremely qualified to be a corrections officer...which I actually really want to be, but Ryan is categorically opposed to. BIG TIME.

Fame (not the movie, for all you people to young to remember...in the early 80s, there really was an actually television show for it. AND I LOVE IT. Coco, Martelli, Lydie....love them all!!!!)

A large mess of terrible reality shows. TERRIBLE.
Ruby -I know, I have no idea why I love her. Maybe because even though she's up against so much she's always so "hacky."
Toddlers and Tiaras-I just like to scream at the TV about how effed up these parents are and how their three year olds look like they're 40
Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Making the Team-I love cheerleading stuff. I'll even watch those competitions on ESPN

Religious/Paranormal/Spiritual programming-I love Vatican, Judaica (thats my new big one), anything dealing with Santeria, posession, faith based miracles, etc

Transgender/Gay/Drag Queen documentaries (I LOVE documentaries in general-thats 85% of my queue, but somehow I managed to add like five transgender documentaries last week haha)

Mentally disabled/autism documentaries ESPECIALLY if they deal with mental instituations from the 50s-80s. I know, I have problems.

Oh yeah. Somewhere in there I watch normal stuff like oh, MOVIES. I did watch White Oleander last week. I thought it absolutely sucked compared to the book. They took a beautiful meaty book thats like a 3" paperback and shrank it to a weak watered down movie. Skip the movie, read the book.

And stay out of my netflix queue. It'll warp your mind. ;)

Oh man. I hate to be a total non holiday bum out, but I just straight up got so stressed about Artomatic that I'm actually nauseous. Seriously. Under four months. Even though I know I'm under zero obligation to sell from my booth, it really is my goal...and it's really my goal to kill it and make some money. Even worse, I think my main focus is knitwear...and for those not in the know, you don't just wiggle your ass and have a scarf appear. I mean, maybe some do, but I think that's a whole other show going on.

Oy. I'm just going to go bowl on my DS because I can't knit anymore tonight. I was taking a break and doing non-retail knitting anyways, teeny eeny knitting for my darling little Thea!!!! More about her in a special post of her own! <3

My mom got a tattoo and not gonna lie, it's beyond badass. It's a Caia Koopman piece and she sat from 1-6 with only a couple breaks in between. It's pretty freaking big.

Oh, did I mention that this was her FIRST tattoo?

Has anyone else ever had these? They're called something along the line of moon cakes. My thai cousin got them for us...they're very expensive and a very big deal. My gramoo saved them until Thanksgiving for everyone to try. Per usual, along with every other asian treat like mochi, etc, I was the only one in the family who really liked them. They're squishy, yet not, on the outside and have different fillings-strawberry was the crowd favorite. (amongst the 4 people who would even try them!)

Here we go! I got curious and wiki'd halfway thru. I would say in this photo is what they're describing as the "jelly" mooncake, but our box also had the traditional ones with the crust. I haven't tried those yet. Now I'm a little freaked out to after reading this article. Salted egg yolks? Chicken floss? Where exactly on a chicken would one find the *floss*?

There's 3 floors but all of my photos are of the third because honestly, I don't like the other two and I'm only concerned about the third, and God willing they'll do picks like the previous years and they'll be based on the order that you signed up in...which in that case I'll be guaranteed third floor. So blah blah blah, these are more for Rob's benefit so he can see what the spot looks like. Isn't it fun tho? Ryan and I totally want to fix this floor up and live there! I love the windows.

So look at those two little alpaca sweeties up there!!! Ryan and I went to the Ann Arbor Fiber Expo on October 23 aka BEST DAY EVER, despite me being jacked up on drugs from having my wisdom teeth pulled the Tuesday before. I was a trooper and still managed to stuff my face with Macaroni Grill. 4 Days of Frosties and rice had worn me down.

Back to the Fiber Expo...or as Ryan was adament on refering to it as "FiberFest."...in the days leading up to it, we fielded a lot of inquiries...because when you mention you're going to a Fiber Expo....well...it doesn't conjure up the best images. I had a lot of people concerned about my regularity, and wondering if I was going to come home with a ton of cereal samples, and knowledge of the newest supplements on the market. Yarn, people. Fiber yarn!

We trucked to the Washtenaw County Fairgrounds after what I consider to be a fair trade of me going to see Jackass 3D. Ryan does not consider this a fair trade. In my defense I completely offered him free reign to go to the gun show taking place next door and he declined. We saw booth after booth....after booth...after booth....of roving and yarn and fleece, oh my! 3 buildings of it to be exact. I really have to give the show organizers credit. When they publicized "over 200 vendors" they really meant it. I would have liked to see more real animals, but thats just because I like to poke real animals :) There were alpaca, sheep, and angora bunnies all represented, and angora bunnies make me die inside because they ARE SO FLUFFYYYYYY.

All of the vendors were super friendly, and the product was really well priced. I picked up a variety of roving from a few different booths, a drop spindle, and some adorable teeny wood buttons in the shape of Michigan and Ohio that I couldn't pass up.

If you missed it this year and get the opportunity to go next year I wouldn't pass it up...for three dollars admission its definately worth it. However-mind the name-FIBER Expo. If you're going looking for yarn or finished products there *are* vendors selling yarn....but by and large, the vast majority of the show was roving, batts, and fleeces. If you are going solely for your, I'd still go for the eye candy, but you are not going to come away with a giant shopping bag of stuff.

And we'll ignore the story about how we got lost in the scenic Michigan countryside for 45 minutes afterwards and how Blackberry Maps WILL direct you down pseudo-existant dirt roads. :)

Have I mentioned that my boyfriend is nothing short of amazing? And that he pays a little extra just so that the dozen roses can come to me with a card from "Unicorn Florist?" (Yeah, I know you want to move to Ohio now so you can frequent Unicorn Florist too!) And has the extra thoughtfulness to ask for "mixed pink" instead of all one color?

I'll spare you the photos of the angry, dryly typewritten card with the message completely contradictory to what he requested. Don't worry, it wasn't anything like "We're breaking up"....it just wasn't the loving detailed greeting he expected me to see haha.

So everyone knows Ryan and I are eventually getting married. While I don't have the "real" ring (I wear a $3 creep-repellent from the JC Penney that was originally purchased to wear while I work at the bar and has become part of my everyday wardrobe) its common knowledge that we're getting married at some point so I'm always on the lookout for brooches for my bouquet, good ideas for the reception, etc.

And always experiencing dress anxiety.

My mother and I watch Say Yes to the Dress every week. While I love the dresses a lot of the girls choose, I love them for *them.* Not for me. None of these dresses are for ME. And it's Kleinfeld people. Home of the eight million dresses...and not a single one I've seen on the show tickles my fancy. I see none of the Internet that do it for me. None in the many Brides magazines I check out from the library. Do you understand the panic this strikes in me for when I really do have a strong deadline and its you-need-a-dress-no-one-is-going-to-be-ok-with-you-wearing-leggings-to-your-wedding-dammit-Eryn?

Trust me, I already tried to tell Ryan this. Apparently our wedding has a no leggings allowed dress code. I pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I would need to have my dress custom made, which I was ok with, but then that left the issue of me having to design the dress.

FINALLY last weekend the gates of heaven opened....we were walking to Old Bag in Worthington and I saw a faaaaaaabulous dress in the window of La Jeune Mariee. After 5 emails back and forth I nailed down the designer of the dress....searched online...and wonder of wonders, I LOVE ALL HER STUFF. AND IT DOES NOT COST A DOWN PAYMENT ON A HOUSE.

Melissa Sweet, I love you. And the second I get an engagement ring that costs more than three dollars, we are making the trip to Cincy to try on every single one of your fabulous dresses!!!

And we're going to pretend that upon seeing aforementioned dresses, that my mother didn't say "you better start losing some weight if you think you're going to fit into those." :o

People. Let's talk about this muffin.

Last Saturday my parents and I went up to Detroit to go to the Farmer's Market at Eastern Market...which is where I found this delightful little bite. We sampled a brownie from one of the stalls and about five minutes later I realized I absolutely had to go back and buy one. I ended up getting the brownie, a chocolate chip cookie, and the chocolate chip muffin pictured above. The point of this wordy post about baked goods?

THEY'RE ALL VEGAN. AND THEY WERE ALL AMAZING.

Seriously, if you're vegan and in/around Detroit, you have to try this place. Patisserie Ci could be the place that changes your mind if missing sweets is the only thing keeping you from going vegan. I'm not vegan, but I've tried a lot of animal free treats in the past that have fallen short. Nothing about these said "pretending." The chocolate tasted legit, the lemon cake my mom got was wonderfully moist, the brownie was fudgy. Also, despite being a specialty retailer, her prices were great!

If you're at the Eastern Market on Saturday mornings, go get some fresh baked goods from Celeste and her two super cute daughters that help her out...otherwise visit the Patisserie Ci website to order. And no, they're not bribing me with treats....I just really thought it was THAT good!

This is what I do when Ryan and I have educational weekends and watch documentaries. This took the better part of Michael Moore's "Sicko" which I highly recommend, although I caution you...it will really make you take a good hard look at health care, other countries' health care, and if you work in any sort of industry that deals with health care (like I do) it's going to make you really angry and upset. You've been warned. It was fantastic though. Everyone should watch that, and "Food, Inc."

Anyways...in case you didn't know, I have more than a little "problem" with nail polish...which wasn't helped when I found out how cheap nail art supplies are on Ebay from Hong Kong! 500 nail tips shipped for like $3!!! How could I pass up such a deal! So poor Ryan gets to be anxious watching me shave away tiny pieces of acrylic with a dremel then I preen around with my fancy nails. I had two separate people at the mall ask me if they were Minx, and that right there was worth the two hours work I put into them. Plus its calming, handpainting teeny things. They're a lot more obnoxiously neon in person...you'll have to excuse Mongolian BBQ's quality lighting along with my Blackberry's white balance. Nothing but top quality professional photography here people!

I'm going to go dye my hair now. And by "dye my hair" I mean "hopefully not end up a leopard spotted mess like the last time I listened to those dumb hos, I mean *professionals* at Sally's instead of following my gut."

I should be fine. I did follow my gut. There will be none of this color remover nonsense this evening, and only ten volume developer. Its like if my hair was going to a party everyone else would be shooting Jameson and my poor jacked up hair is sitting in the corner sipping a Zima. Pussy. :(

By some oddity, there wasn't any Law and Order taping on my DVR this morning. (I know, the horror!!) So I turned on VH1 Jump Start which I haven't watched in ages. Why did I automatically turn to the yuppie channel? Well, the "music television" station was showing Teen Mom. Cause that's relevant to my music interests. Duh.

So anyways. WHO IS BUYING THIS SHIT??? Where are you people?? Who is buying these CDs and somehow making the music industry think its ok to continue producing some of this trash? B.O.B? He's ok. Lady Antebellum? She's alright. The rest of the stuff.....man. I'm not even going to look at whats in the top 20 of iTunes right now because I'm pretty sure I just wouldn't leave the house for the rest of the day.

Partially due to the fact that I think I am finally comitted to "doing something" with my life, partially due to Bridget's fantastic online art selling workshop last night. I am so committed to learning how to crochet again. It's a little ridiculous, I learned how to knit out of a book...taught myself how to purl, to knit on double pointed needles, knit on circular needles......do all sorts of interesting knitting things.

So knitting on four needles? No problem. However, manage to connect a chain of crochet to itself, with one hook? Yeah right. Its SO IRRITATING. Book after book, I'm still crochet-tarded.

However, I believe I may have some free hours on Friday next week (Columbus for my Bday, yaaaaaay!) So I may finally buck up and try to get it together. Cause there are some cutieeeee crochet books out there now!

First off, let's talk about things no one cares about, but we're going to bring up anyways.

I HAVE TERRIBLE CRAMPS AND A HORRIBLE MIGRAINE AND BOTH OF THESE HAVE BEEN GOING ON ALL DAY AND I HATE MY LIFE.

Okay sorry. Had to get that out of there.

My boss has started insisting that I was born to do standup comedy, and that he can't believe that I have never tried it. I explained to him that it's not something I could think about, and formulate a routine for...it's more that our patients provide me with an...ahem.."special" kind of inspiration. One that compels me to say things like "yeah, this is normal wear and tear if the kid was a triceratops" and "Amy, can you go watch the front? I need to go give myself a hysterectomy with a spoon." I don't see it as comedy....just well-filtered anger hahahaha.

I really want alfredo sauce for my chicken. And a new composition book to use as my guestbook because I don't want to use any of my "saleable" journal bases. However, I really don't feel like leaving the house because I can hardly stand up due to Awesome Cramps 2K9, April edition.

Pete and I are going to see Haunting in Connecticut tomorrow and I am Stoked. On. That.

Going to print pictures this week and get my scrapbook on! Woo!

*Painting Mia's shoes and hoodie.
*Actually having time to go to the gym again and tan again
*Being able to vacuum my living room floor because it will no longer be serving as a staging area for my artomatic wall
*SCRAPBOOKING. I know this severly reduces my cool factor, but honest to god...you have no idea how badly I miss scrapbooking. It also doesn't help that in moving 50% of the art supplies from downstairs to upstairs, I realized that I have procured about 15 mini book blanks. Ooops.
*Binding my own journals (Because 15 mini books clearly isnt enough)
*Cleaning and organizing the closet room and figuring out a solution on storing my 60+ pairs of shoes. (I'm too scared and shameful to perform an accurate count hahaha)
*Pruning my bookcase and repurposing all getting-rid-of hardcovers into altered books (again. because 15 mini books and handmade journals CLEARLY isn't enough)
*Getting my freaking roots done
*Getting hundreds of photos printed at Costco
*Knitting without feeling like I should be painting

Well. That little moment of happy fun fantasy time was nice...but now I have to put hanging hardware on about 40 teeny pieces of art. Now I know why people paint huge canvases.

So it's no secret that I am SO OVER this extended winter we've been so "blessed" with. Also no secret that I love Ugg boots and have no problem shelling out $140 for winter boots in the middle of august, because they're just so cute.

With that said, I just pulled on my mauve crocheted Uggs and got a little sad, because I realized my days of being able to wear them will eventually end in the near future. These are my favorite Uggs, aside from my moccassins. I think it's because I've always had a love of how dancers wear those really slouchy legwarmers...and since I am, ahem, not exactly the dancer type in the body department, these still give me the lovely slouchiness in boot form. I also don't end up looking like I'm suffering from delusions of being tall and graceful and lithe.

This past weekend I worked till three on Saturday, and then had Sunday and Monday off and raged like I was unemployed and never had to wake up early again. It was awesome and honestly, I think it brought back a little of the flicker my soul was missing. I stayed out till 6am Sunday and it felt like old times, which I took completely for granted and never realized were numbered.

Two important lessons learned this week:

*I'd rather go through my days super tired but knowing how happy I was the night before than spend my days hating my life because I was too concerned about being "grown up" and going to bed by ten pm. I've spent too long refusing to make memories in the name of being "responsible."

*No matter how much you want something...when the opportunity is placed in front of you, you shouldn't always take it. Some things are better off not knowing.

My card reader has decided that this whole "card reading" nonsense is really not it's calling in life and therefore, has just stopped working. Soooooo a week ago, I had very fabulous plans for this evening. Joshy and I were going to get dressed up and go to Omni or Avalon, and it was going to be retarded and stupid, but still very fun.

Then I found out I had to work at the bar. BOO. I make Broc PROMISEPROMISEPROMISE me that the show will not cancel, since I'm canceling superawesome plans because I really need the money. He promises.

So fast forward to today. I find out at stupid 4:30 that oh, the show canceled. Hate ensues. I text Josh, knowing that there's no way he has an unplanned Saturday night, which of course was true. No hate for him tho, because he had really good plans.

So yeah. Lamezor Valentines Day, per usual. Making an art supply run for some airbrush paint and stuff, and getting a Happy Meal so I can get a Hello Kitty watch! Going to stay up all night and paint some DIYs and stuff for Artomatic. (or at least hopefully get a couple things done before I pass out!)

Because I swear, I AM working on Artomatic stuff. I feel compelled to post photos, which compels me to actually complete works. I'm finding along the way that opposed to my previous Artomatic display, I'm having a REALLY hard time reigning in the direction of where this needs to go. Fortunately, I have a ton more time. For Artomatic 1, I created every piece I showed in literally a week. I was unemployed, and I painted/etc from the moment I got up until I went to sleep. My whole display was Dia Los Muertos, so I had the luxury of throwing pretty much any item in it, as long as it held that Mexican folk art aesthetic. Nooooooooowwwww. Yeah. I have no idea where I'm going with this for Artomatic 3, and I'm really trying to put a lasso on it. I figure I'm just going to create create create from now until then, and once it's time to install I'll edit and choose my best and most relevant pieces. Anyways,

Tiny little plaster plaques. They're about 3-4" tall. They kind of suck to base coat, but they're going to be pretty rad when I'm finished. Little quickie pieces, but still pretty fufilling.

Ughhhhhh I'm so in love with this piece already. I've had it in my sketchbook for awhile and it's going to be one of those that I'll probably never even put up for sale cause I'm in love with its tiny cuteness. I'm torn on one little cherry on top element of it....I'm afraid it might be *too* much...but luckily it's the last thing I would have to add on, so I'll be able to see it all finished and decide if I want to go there.

This little dude was finished a couple months ago. Did I mention a feedback I got on Etsy? I sold a shrine like a month ago, and the buyer commented it was one of the best executions of a matchbox shrine that they'd ever seen. Score!

Again, one that I might not be able to sell because I'm so tickled with it. Honestly, it may just be this color palette.

Oldie, but still a love. I think it needs a zebra print ribbon bow in one corner to finish it?

So yeah. I understand that's kind of a cop-out, because I'm posted finished works that I didn't just complete like...three seconds ago...but still...I finally posted art on an art blog! ;)

Here's my little baby space for Artomatic that I claimed yesterday! It's the red line in the middle of the floor with that pink piece of paper in front of it. My initial pics were those drywalled spaces behind it, but they were taken, so my mom claimed a space way back in that corner with the scaffold is....but when I got there, I found out they were building all these areas in the middle of the floors, so yay! I like this spot way better. There's no one at all on one side of me, and only someone to the right angle of the other side....since I'm rolling my whole background, I think it'll look way better than having this bigass 10' x 8' painted block in the middle of a row of displays. I can't wait!

Tonight: Outrun the Gun and Goodbye Blue Skies....with Dave (incidentally, ex-OTG) playing bass. Love Dave!

Also, why didn't anyone tell me all this time that I should have been watching Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia?!

Are one of you pesky monkeys forwarding my blog posts around? I only ask because Mr. 28 Missed Calls called me again last nite. Only once this time mind you, and I was sleeping, and no voicemail was left. How utterly bizarro.

My living room has turned into the creation station...Since I live alone and have virtually no local friends to come over and hang out, I felt obliged to shove the furniture against the wall and dropcloth the floor. Many reasons:
*Heat downstairs. No heat upstairs. This is fine when I nest myself into a sheet, comforter, blanket, and quilt at night...unfortunately, this is not an ideal arrangement for painting and whatnot.
*No water source upstairs. I'll admit it, I'm lazy when I have to change paint water every 20 minutes.
*There's cable, but not full cable upstairs....Also no DVR upstairs. And the DVD player is effed. Since there's no DVR, I can't catch up on Law and Order while I paint.
*With the dropcloth, I have now created infinite drying surfaces! When I need to switch to something else, I just sit it down next to me!

Saturday is space choosing day for Artomatic. I will take pictures and show you my little baby space that I got! Cross your fingers that I get one of my top choices!

Trips to Ann Arbor, contrary to priot track records, are not always awesome. In fact, some times (ahem, today.) they can downright suck.

However, I bought a New Era that's some Russian brand, and I'm more than a little in love with it.

And I got Hello Kitty toys.

I was pretty sure we were going to end up in a ditch on the way home, but we didn't.

Urban Outfitters clearance was ace this time around. I got some fabulous stuff I had been pining for, but couldn't justify at full price.

I Am Abomination was amaaaaazing per usual. Attack Attack was good, but not awesome like I had expected. Who knew so many little kids were claiming SXE nowadays? It seemed like every time I turned around some kid had an edge shirt on. So odd.

Joshy and I had one of our moments when he remembered to ask me if I saw that someone had guessed perfectly on The Price is Right, and had won both showcases. Both showcases! Things like that remind me how much I adore that boy.

I really want to do something fun tomorrow since I'm totally free after 3. The weather is probably going to be too atrocious to really do anything tho. Wouldn't it be nice if we got all this snow and had a grown-up snow day from work tomorrow?

I'm cultivating a crush on someone (I know, this is such a shock to you dear reader!) and as usual, I'm stumbling all over myself. I'm never going to get a date, I swear.

So I thought it was 8:30...and it's 7:30! I have loads of time before Matty and Jutin get here, so I technically could do much more cleaning and make the house look presentable....but like I told Matty. ....it'd just be me hiding stuff, because there's shit all over the house while I'm sorting/trashing/organizing the art room/getting rid of more stuff. And really, they're going to be here just tonight, we get up tomorrow and go to Ann Arbor, then when we get back they're leaving. I'm not spazzing myself out cleaning for them to see it for a total of like....three hours. Plus, Matty already knows I'm a mess.

Things that are rad:
It's a pay week.
CAT SHOW WEEKEND!!! I am going to love on so so many munchkin kittens.
Red heart shaped sunglasses tomorrow. And bubble tea.

Not rad things:
I love the product they put in my hair at the salon...like the *effect* of it...but it totally creeps me out when I touch my hair.
My eye is acting up. It's not ulcered, but it did stain the other day when Jerry looked at it at work. :(
Matty's mittens are turning out atrocious and like....giant sized. I DO NOT KNOW WHY.

I just had this grand epiphany that I could only have Bravo and Food Network on my tv and be completely happy.
But then I realized I'd also need TNT and USA to get my Law and Order fix.
New Years Eve was lames. I worked, which was totally fine, and my outfit was awesome, but just really lame stuff happened that put a downer on the evening. However, I pouted and pleaded and Grand Buffet played the Kitty song for me :)
I slept till 3:30 today tho and it was AMAZING. And since I worked last night and had today off, I can't stop thinking that its Sunday.
I can't stop reading Charlaine Harris books. Im getting ready to start my fourth one and theres four more left...I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm all done!

Going on my etsy soon...probably New Years Day, assuming I get home sometime before 11am and stay awake? I have to get this stuff put in my store, a) because I don't have room in my house for myself, much less 12 etsy things yet to be posted and b) I need money for Phenomenal Tattoo 2009.

I have to paint my nail tonight, because I'm going to have precisely one hour to get ready between day job and working the Grand Buffet show. Does this outfit sound like a poor idea?

Black/grey/pink argyle cardigan (I'm working the door, so I need *something*. It's the cardigan or a short ripped up jean jacket.
Red/pink/purple/gold patent leather and suede wedges.

It's going to be quite fancy.

I came here because LJ is a little too private. Like...I want to be able to post shit I'm knitting, and stuff like that....But I don't want people reading back through 7 years of my LJ and being like "Fuck.....why didn't anyone ever commit that child?"

Not that I think this is going to be earth-shattering interesting. Unfortunately, I doubt most of you care to be subjected to a mess of pink, yarn, vinyl toys, high heels, paint, fall out boy, makeup, tattoos, poor judgment, and many nights at the bar.
